Take time to rest
We are all busy. I constantly feel like I am running from one thing to the next and it can be exhausting. We schedule so many things onto our calendar but do you ever schedule in any rest time? Rest is so important so we can recharge and be at our best. Here are some tips so you can get more rest time into your schedule:
Make it a priority
Make sure that rest time is the first thing that you schedule. A day where you do nothing (I know as a mom you are saying what is that like?). Just do the minimum that day. We still have to feed our kids and take care of them but it will be alright if we just microwave something for dinner or just cuddle and watch a movie. If you can, get a babysitter. Do not feel guilty about getting a sitter to do something for you. It makes us better moms when we take care of ourselves.
Try to take 10 minutes at the end of the day
After you get all the kids in bed take just 10 minutes and sit in the silence. Just sit and do nothing. Clear your mind and just be in the moment. Do not worry about your list of to dos or what is going on tomorrow. Just relax and let the stress of the day disappear. You can spare 10 minutes to do this.
Take a nap
Now it has been a long time since I’ve taken a nap but even if you have little kids you can still nap when they nap. That pile of laundry and dishes will still be there when you wake up. Even just taking a 15-20 minute nap has been proven to help you relax.
The act of breathing in and out has shown to help you relax and reduce stress. So even if you have a very busy day, you can take 2 seconds to just stop what you are doing and take a big breathe in and out. Just focus on your breathing and nothing else and you will start to feel yourself relax.
