10 Ways to keep your New Year’s Resolution
Every year we make a New Year’s resolution. We always say that this year is going to be different. This year we will keep our resolution but then two weeks into the year we have forgotten about it. Well I say not this year! This year will we accomplish or goals! Here are 10 tips to help you actually keep your resolution this year.
Write it down
Write down your resolution. Put pen to paper and actually write down what you want to accomplish. Studies show that people who write down their goals are more likely to achieve them.
Have a plan
You can’t just write down your goal and make it magically happen. You have to have a plan of how you are going to achieve it. Decide what steps you need to take to reach your goal.
Figure out your why
Why do you want to reach this goal? How will this improve your life? Decide what that reason is and hold on to it when you feel like quitting.
Break it into smaller goals
Write down all the little goals you want to accomplish on your journey to your big goal. Celebrate all the tiny milestones along the way.
Have a deadline
Decide when you want to achieve this goal by. Giving yourself a deadline gives you something to aim for. (side note: don’t beat yourself up too much if you don’t hit the deadline. Life happens and just give yourself more time. Don’t give up!)
Get an accountability partner
Find someone who has the same goal as you and partner up. It can be a family member, friend, co-worker or even a Facebook group. There is a Facebook group for everything. Have a plan for when it gets tough
Decide ahead of time what you are going to do when you feel like quitting. There will be a time when you want to give up but having a plan in action already will help keep you on track.
Visualize your life when you reach your resolution
Think of how your life will be when you accomplish this resolution. Hold that vision in your head and keep aiming for the end.
Nothing will get accomplish if you don’t put in the hard work. You can plan all you want but without action nothing will change.
