Making a Change
Change is hard. We get so comfortable in our lives that it’s hard for us to want to change anything. The Greek philosopher, Heraaclitus, once said the the only thing that stays the same is change. If you want to make a change in your life then you have to have a plan and take action.
Think about what you want to change in your life. Maybe you want to workout more, read more or get a new hairstyle. Whatever you want to change in your life you have to take action on if it’s going to work. Sometimes we are scared to take action because of the unknown. We are afraid of failure or not doing it perfectly so we procrastinate and never take action. Here are some common things we do to avoid taking action:
Spending too much time researching
We focus too much on the plan. We read books about it, research on the internet and ask others about it. We have notebooks filled with notes about what we want to change. We tell others that as soon as we have enough research then we are going to start.
This is an excuse. We are researching because we want to know everything about it so we can do it perfectly. The thing is that all those other people who have done it have probably failed at some point. They tried and when that didn’t work they tried again. It’s about trial and error.
You can research into what you want to change but just don’t get sucked down the rabbit hole of information overload. Find out what you need to know and then do it!
Putting it off for the right time
Are you waiting for the perfect time to start something? Maybe it’s too cold or your kids are too little. The truth is there will never be a right time. There will always be something that could be in your way. Don’t hold off on something that you want to do any longer. Just go do it!
Thinking you shouldn’t do it
Do you put off taking action because you feel guilty for doing something for yourself? As moms any time we spend money or time on ourselves we feel guilty. The truth is that it is so important to take care of yourself. It makes us better women and moms. We can’t keep giving to everyone else if we don’t fill our cup first. Stop feeling guilty. You deserve to do something for you!
