How to be more Positive

It seems there is something negative everywhere you look. On the news, social media and even in everyday life. It’s hard to keep a positive attitude with so many negative vibes all around us. My sister recently asked me how I stay so positive all the time and I had to stop for a minute. I’m not positive all the time and I’m surprised that anyone thought so. But then I stopped and thought about it. I like to see others smile so maybe I am positive around other people because I don’t like to upset them with negative things. So these are the five things I thought of that I do everyday to stay positive and I hope they help.

  1.     Eliminate the negative.

I don’t watch the news. That doesn’t mean I’m not caught up with what is going on in the world. I just choose to not watch it. There is always a negative story on there or people arguing. It can really pull you out of a positive mood. Instead I read about things going on in the world but I choose what I read. If it starts bringing me down or making me mad I stop and move on to something else.

The same with social media. If someone I’m friends with or following always has something negative to post then I unfollow them. I scroll social media to get away from things for a little bit and catch up with people. I don’t want to hear negatively

 

  1.    Start each day with what you are grateful for

Every morning I say or write down 3 things I’m grateful for.  This always puts me in a positive mood and reminds me why I should be happy. Try it I swear it will put you in a better mood.

 

  1.        Do what you love

Do something that you love to do. If you love coloring then color. If you love cuddling with your kids then do that. Find a little bit of time everyday to do something that makes you happy. Even if you only have 10 minutes to do it then do it. That alone will put you in a better mood.

 

  1.       Take care of yourself

This can mean a lot of things. You can workout, eat healthy, take time to relax, get a manicure, or just take a nap. It’s important to take care of yourself. You will feel drained and exhausted if you don’t do something to take care of yourself everyday. Aren’t you always happier after working out or a nice bubble bath? I know I am.

 

  1.         Choose to be positive

Being positive is a choice. It’s a choice you make everyday. You can wake up and hate the world and be negative if you want. I found it’s so much better to have a positive outlook. Every morning make a choice to be positive and impact someone else’s day. One positive comment can change someone’s day. So spread positivity around!
