The benefits of self-care
You hear everyone telling you that you should be fitting in some self-care into your life but why. Does it really work to make you feel better? Is it a magical cure all? I’m going to give you a few ways that self-care has improved my life and how I believe it could help you too.
Self-care gives you energy
Doing something that I love to do lights me up. When you do an activity or hobby that makes you happy then that happiness gives you energy. It gives you a high that you can ride out the rest of the day. I do my self-care practice in the morning because it boosts my energy so I can get a good start to the day. Think of the last time that you did something that made you happy. How did you feel? Did it improve your energy level? Do that again then!
Self-care helps me give to others
You have heard the saying “You can’t give from an empty cup”. It is so true! If you are consistently giving all you have to other people and not taking time to recharge yourself then you will get burnt out. Think of yourself like a phone. When you use and use your phone without recharging it eventually it’s going to turn off. Your mind works the same way. You need to stop every once in a while to recharge so you can give to those people in your life that you love.
Self-care helps me know who am I
When we stop comparing and sit down with ourselves we find out who we truly are. There is so much thrown at us in the world that sometimes we don’t know how we really feel or think. Taking time to take care of you helps you slow down and realize who you are. We are able to quiet those voices in our head and really listen to the one that matters – you.
